What is XC Fly?

XC Fly is a Brazilian free-flight app for paragliding, paramotor, hang gliding and ultralight pilots. It records the flight by itself (take-off and landing detected, IGC and GPX export), shows vario, altimeter, airspace, official DECEA NOTAMs and obstacles in the cockpit, tracks several pilots live and brings the community together in a feed with profiles, groups and schools. It runs on iPhone, Android and web, in Portuguese, English and French, and is free to start.

XC Fly vs Gaggle vs XCTrack vs Flyskyhy

XC Fly is the only one of the four available on iOS, Android and web, with official DECEA (AISWEB) NOTAMs for Brazil on the free plan, group XC with rescue mode and a module for flight schools. Gaggle also runs on both systems and speaks Portuguese, but NOTAMs and groups sit on the paid plan (US$ 59/yr). XCTrack is Android-only; Flyskyhy is iPhone-only.

Frequently asked questions about XC Fly

Common questions from pilots checking us out — from the apps you use today to how automatic flight logging actually works.

Which free-flight disciplines does XC Fly support?

Paragliding, paramotor, hang gliding, and ultralight. The app auto-detects takeoff and landing per discipline with tuned thresholds — it is not a generic logbook with aviation paint.

What is the best app for paragliding and paramotor in Brazil?

For pilots flying in Brazil, XC Fly is the most complete free-flight app: among XC Fly, Gaggle, XCTrack and Flyskyhy it is the only one available on iOS, Android and web, with official DECEA NOTAMs on the free plan, group XC with rescue mode and a module for flight schools (Gaggle also speaks Portuguese, but charges for NOTAMs and groups). On 15 Oct 2026 it had 4.8 ★ across 44 ratings in the stores, 460 registered flying sites and over 6,000 flights logged by pilots from 24 countries. XCTrack remains strong for competition (Android only) and Flyskyhy on iPhone; both export IGC, so switching does not lock your history. Read the full comparison.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. XC Fly is on the App Store (iOS) and on Google Play (Android), with the same account on both. There is also a web version at app.xcfly.com.br to browse profiles, flights and the live map from a computer. Among the most used free-flight apps, XCTrack is Android-only and Flyskyhy is iPhone-only; XC Fly is the same app on both.

Is XC Fly free?

Creating an account and using the core — automatic recording, logbook, site map and social feed — is free with no credit card. Advanced features are part of XC Fly Pro, an optional monthly or annual subscription bought inside the app through the App Store or Google Play; the current price is shown in the store. Flight schools have their own module, also by subscription.

Is flight logging really automatic?

Yes. You enter the cockpit, the app watches barometer + GPS and detects takeoff on its own. During flight it records altitude, route, vario, speed, wind, and thermals. When you land, the report is already there — no typing. You can also import IGC and GPX from other apps and instruments.

Does it record IGC? Can I export my flights?

Yes. Every flight is recorded natively as IGC and GPX and can be exported at any time, with no paywall. The other way works too: import IGC/GPX from XCTrack, Flyskyhy, FlyMe, NaviTrack, Oudie and other instruments into your logbook.

Does XC Fly work offline?

Flight recording does not depend on the internet: GPS and barometer work with no signal and the flight uploads when the connection returns. Maps can be downloaded by region before the flight, with airspace, obstacles, aerodromes and sites. Live tracking, the feed and notifications need a connection.

Which instruments does the XC Fly cockpit have?

Audio and visual vario (barometer as the primary source, GPS as fallback), altimeter, speed, compass, height above ground, wind estimate, thermal assistant, airspace and NOTAM alerts, nearby traffic and waypoint navigation. For paramotor, engine data over Bluetooth with the Insight V3 (RPM, temperature, lambda sensor and runaway protection).

What is Live mode?

Real-time tracking: anyone flying with Live on shows up on the app map and in the Pilots Live section of this site, with a public link for family and friends. It is used for group flights, for whoever waits at the landing field and for rescue — whoever follows by car sees who has landed, the distance and a button to navigate to the pilot. You decide before takeoff whether to share your position.

Can I fly group XC with friends?

This is the flagship feature. You draw the route on the aeronautical map with real waypoints, invite pilots by name, pick the date and time, and during the flight everyone in the group shows up live on the map. No one gets left behind — like planning a trail, but in the air.

Does XC Fly have an XC route planner?

Yes. XC Fly's planner builds a route with up to 40 points, shows distance per leg, wind and feasibility of each segment, and the XC Instructor comments on the route. The route becomes the group flight: invite your friends and everyone sees the route and each other's position live. Works in the app (iOS and Android) and on the web version. Meet the XC planner, built with Eduardo Bindi.

Is it for flight schools?

Yes. The Schools module lets a school invite students by link or @username, follow their flights (with the student’s consent), keep enrolment records and documents, and issue certificates with a public verification page. It is a separate subscription, bought in the app.

What changed in the latest XC Fly version?

Version 3.0.32 (15 Oct 2026) brought a faster start with a real flight photo for your discipline, the feed sorted by landing time, direct labels on "Flying today?" (wind, gusts, rain), the track visible at any zoom and fewer network calls. Before it, 3.0.30 (4 Oct) fixed launching on iOS 27 and 3.0.29 (28 Sep) cut battery use in flight. The full dated list is in What's new.

How does XC Fly compare to apps like Gaggle, Ayvri, and XCTrack?

Gaggle is excellent at social live tracking; XC Fly is built around the day-to-day of pilots everywhere — automatic logbook, native social feed, multilingual aeronautical map, and on-app group XC planning. Shipped natively in Portuguese, English, and French from day one. Your flight history is yours: exportable as IGC or GPX whenever you want, with no vendor lock-in. For post-flight analysis we play nicely with the instrument apps you already use (XCTrack, Flyskyhy, Oudie) via IGC/GPX import.

Is XC Fly the same as flyXC or XC Brasil?

No. XC Fly is the free-flight app (cockpit, automatic logbook, live tracking and community) for iPhone, Android and web. flyXC (flyxc.app) is a web tool for route planning and track viewing, with no phone recording. XC Brasil is the Brazilian paragliding league/ranking: you record in XC Fly, export the IGC and upload it there. For paramotor, XC Fly sends the flight straight to CABPP.

Who is behind XC Fly?

XC Fly is built by pilots, for pilots, by DAC Sistemas, a software developer from Rio Claro (SP), Brazil. The project is led by Diego Cataldi, a pilot since 2015 who came from free flight and has been flying paramotor for a year and a half in the countryside of São Paulo — every release is field-tested before it ships. It was born in Brazil and today pilots fly with it in Europe, the Americas and Asia too. Shipped natively in Portuguese, English and French, with no ads and your data always exportable (IGC/GPX). Your flight history is yours, with no vendor lock-in.
