XC planner
An XC route planner built by the pilot who flies the most
XC Fly's XC planner takes your route (2 to 40 points), the date and time of take-off and the wing you fly, and returns the plan: wind by altitude layer on every leg, the recommended direction and how much it saves, fuel and trim, and each leg marked feasible or infeasible — with the reason. It was built with Eduardo Bindi, the pilot who flies the most in the world on the XContest ranking, and it is free in the app.
Eduardo Bindi
Paramotor pilot flying out of Ninho dos Condores and the pilot who flies the most in the world on the XContest ranking. He created XC Fly's XC route planner and tests every version on his own flights.
What the planner computes
- Wind layers by altitude, automatic, for every leg — the forecast is for the day and hour you picked, and the app shows in which altitude band the wind helps.
- Best direction: original or reversed, with how much the recommended one saves in time and fuel.
- Feasibility per leg with a reason: infeasible by altitude (terrain + minimum AGL above the ceiling), by wind (headwind above wing speed across the whole band) or by missing data — nothing disappears silently.
- Fuel and trim from your wing's registered performance (or the Standard wing).
- FAI triangle: checks the 28 % rule and shows the scoring perimeter.
- Up to 40 points, GPX import and routes saved in Routes & Waypoints.
- Becomes a group flight: save the plan, invite your friends and everyone sees the route and each other's position live — with rescue mode for whoever picks up by car.
AI in flight and after it
With XC Copilot on, the cockpit follows the plan during the flight. After landing, the XC Instructor analyses your flight with AI — thermals along the track, the line to the site, comparison with the day's wind — and writes a report in your language, which you rate to train the instructor. It is not a generic AI: it reads your flight data and the plan you made.

How to use it
- Create or import the route in Routes & Waypoints (or draw it on the map).
- Open Plan XC, pick date, take-off time and wing.
- Tap Compute plan: see the recommended direction, wind by altitude and the feasible legs.
- Save as an XC plan and invite the group — the route shows up in everyone's cockpit.

Frequently asked questions
Is the XC planner free?
Yes. The planner, XC Copilot and the XC Instructor are enabled for every pilot on XC Fly, on iPhone, Android and the web version.
Where does the planner's wind come from?
From the weather forecast for the date and hour you picked, at several altitudes. Each leg gets the wind of the altitude band you will fly in; intermediate points inherit the wind of the nearest vertex.
How many points can the route have?
2 to 40. You can import a GPX or build the route in Routes & Waypoints.
What does an infeasible leg mean?
That within the altitudes you allowed (minimum AGL and maximum MSL), the terrain does not fit, the headwind exceeds wing speed across the whole band, or there is no wind data. The app tells you which of the three it is and suggests what to change.
Who is Eduardo Bindi?
A Brazilian paramotor pilot, the one who flies the most in the world on the XContest ranking, with 4,850 km logged on XC Fly since June 2026 and 428 km flights. He created XC Fly's XC route planner and tests every version in flight.
